Bonnie Weiner
is the President and a Co-Founder of Imaging Core Lab Services (ICLS)
whose mission is to provide highly accurate, independent quantitative
and qualitative analysis of imaging studies for the support of clinical
and preclinical medical device and pharmaceutical trials in a rapid, flexible,
and customer friendly manner.. She is also the physician consultant to
Boston Biomedical Associates (BBA), a consulting firm providing regulatory,
quality assurance, and clinical research services to medical device and
biomedical companies.
Since 1977, Dr. Weiner has been a member of the full time faculty at the
University of Massachusetts Medical Center (UMMC) where she enjoyed a
distinguished career as a clinician, academician, and research scientist
in cardiovascular medicine. After completing her postdoctoral fellowship
training, she held the positions of Director of Interventional Cardiology,
Chief of Atherosclerosis Research, and Director of Cardiac Catheterization
Laboratories at UMMC from 1980 to 1998.
During her tenure at UMMC, Dr. Weiner was Principal Investigator for numerous
industry and government sponsored research activities for pharmaceuticals
and medical devices including the TIMI studies for Thrombolysis in Myocardial
Infarction and the BARI studies for Bypass Angioplasty Revascularization
Investigation. Dr. Weiner was chosen to participate in many studies involving
the evaluation of innovative, leading edge device technology including
balloon catheters as well as intracoronary and carotid stent technology.
She is currently the Director of Interventional Cardiology Research at
Worcester Medical Center. In addition, she has been a member of numerous
clinical trial safety and monitoring committees in the evaluation of new
device technology and has functioned in the role of Auditor for the FDA.
As a result of her extensive research in cardiovascular disease, Dr. Weiner
has authored or co-authored over 75 papers including longitudinal studies
involving the investigation and treatment of, atherosclerosis, thrombolysis,
and restenosis, as well as basic cardiovascular research.
Dr. Weiner received her BA from Mills College in Oakland, California and
her MD from the University of Oregon Medical School. She is board certified
in internal medicine, cardiovascular diseases, and interventional cardiology.
She received a MS in E-commerce in May 2003 and is expecting to complete
the requirements for the MBA degree in 2004. In addition, Dr. Weiner is
a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, the Council on Clinical
Cardiology, and the Society for Angiography and Interventions.
